about

Originally due to be recorded in March 2020 as the band's first collaboration with Eoin Whitfield, and eventually released on the occasion of the band's first show in Ireland, the creation of new single Boots has bookended Ireland's pandemic and restrictions on live music.

lyrics

It’s getting clear as the days go on
That I don’t know anything
Holding out for a cloudy morning
The light’s unsettling
Little did I expect that beer
Or the smile that followed up
You said, "let’s get out of here"
And the night it swallowed us

Calling out everything
Where are we?
We’re underground.
I don’t know why but I like it a lot
Yeah your laugh rings out
I love that sound

It’s getting clear as the night goes on
That there’s nowhere I’d rather be
In situations quite like this
I’m my own worst enemy.
Standing up my feet go slipping
And my head goes light
There’s no way that I am leaving
Let’s stretch this night right out

Calling out everything
Where are we?
We’re underground
I don’t know why but I like it a lot
Yeah your laugh rings out
I love that sound

Don’t you know it’s the weight of the world
Dragging me down
Spreading my bones all over this town
Don’t you know it’s the weight of the world
That’s got me right here next to you right now
Don’t you know it’s the weight of the world
That’s got me here

Tonight I’m gonna get a little carried away
Tonight I’m gonna make a mess of everything
Tonight I’m gonna get in over my head
And yes I’ll probably regret this
Tonight I’m gonna lose the run of myself
But I wouldn’t change it for anything else
Yes I’m legless, now I’m feckless
And I’m making a real nice mess

Oh now what a disaster
It wasn’t meant to be like this
But then again it never is
